Description

A submission from taiia

Name: Lilli is the tender, diminutive form of the name Lillian. It is how Kertsi used to call me.

Inspiration: I decided to have a more representative Featured Deviation which will present the most characteristic features of my drawing style. I also wanted to draw an improved version of self portrait on the ground of the same photograph.

Featured Deviation: I find that work absolutely representative: precise and realistic, with specific small grainy texture, which is the most characteristic feature of my drawing style. It would be not only the new featured deviation, but also my new favourite work. I tried to add more light to this vision, however the conductive tone is still dark.

Base: Drawn on the ground of a photograph.

Notice: An improved version of the picture I drew a few months ago as a free sketch.

Mediums:
Pencils:
-5H, 3H (for precise work on face and hair details, especially on eyes).
-HB, 3B (for bigger elements on face and the rest of first fundamental sketch).
Crayons: Bambino (black, white) - also in powder and chips.
Pastels: Soft chalk pastels (black, white) in powder.
Other mediums: Graphite in powder and chips.
Powder
Way of preparation: I blend graphite in powder and chips, black Bambino crayons in powder and chips, black soft chalk pastels in powder or: white Bambino crayons in powder and chips, white soft chalk pastels in powder to get the homogeneous one-colour compositions.
Way of use: Used in filling (on dress), blending (on skin and dress), shading (on skin and dress), lightening/brightening (on skin and hair), generally for producing tints and gradations by adding darker or lighter pigments.

Tools: Setsquare and plotting paper used as a pad only in drawing first fundamental sketch to get the ideal proportions.

Accessory implements:
Leather stumps (meants as a short thick roll of leather): used in shading, lightening/brightening, blending on skin, in lightening/brightening on hair.
Cotton pad (meant as a small found piece of soft cotton wool) used in shading, blending on dress.

Paper: Fine regularly corrugated papeterie, first class, made in France.

Format: A3. Full-view required.

Skin Texture Effect: Owing to the strongly grainy structure of used fine regularly corrugated papeterie.

Hair Texture Effect: None.

Dress Fabric Texture Effect: Thick irregularly currugated wooden slat used as a pad put under the sheet of papeterie.

Special Thanks: I would like to thank Sandra-Anje for better quality scan version.

Dedication: I dedicate Lilli. Self Portrait. to my magnificent fiancé Johann Verner de Grenier van Harsen.

Every comment and criticism will be appreciated.
